Scripture: Hebrews 4:16

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Reflection: Thinking Big

I am a fan of big, bold ideas. I love to think big, and I dream even bigger. Do you ever get lost in your biggest dreams? You know the ones that are so amazingly wonderfully impossible that you dare not dream them.

That is why this scripture speaks to me. It reminds me of the power of boldly going to God with our biggest dreams, deepest fears and craziest dreams. It reminds me of the generosity and the graciousness of God. It also is a reminder of how God always provides.

God’s ability to use a mess like a pandemic and make miracles is a reminder of his love for us. It is easy for me to get caught up in the discord in our country, uncertainty of what comes next and an invisible virus that looms large, but I’m reminded in this scripture to come boldly to God. While sometimes there doesn’t seem to be a quick fix for the challenges we face, I believe that one touch of God’s favor can change anything. With God all things are possible.

It is easy to shrink back and feel the heaviness of the world around me, but that isn’t what God wants for us. We demonstrate our faith—believing what we have not seen—by going boldly to God and praying big, beautiful, bold prayers.

 Prayer:

God help us to remember that you are a God of miracles, the God of the impossible. We come boldly to you to ask for your healing hand on our world. Put a hedge of protection around our families, unite our broken world, bring grace in the middle of chaos and Lord mend our broken spirits. We believe in miracles and we rest our faith in you, and you alone. Amen
