Scripture – John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be trouble and do not be afraid.
Reflection – Another Rough Week
It’s been said many times this year – it’s been another rough week. I wish I could go back and see how many times Jenny said this during our online worship service. And no matter how many times we say it, it seems to be true week after week, over and over again. Whether it’s the current Covid-19 status of our country/community, your family’s work status, your child’s school format, or the election – man, it’s been another rough week.
I’ve spent a lot of time the past several months looking for verses to help me “in the moment” by searching terms in my bible’s concordance. This week I needed peace and I found it in this verse where Jesus is comforting his disciples and promises them the Holy Spirit. We don’t need to be afraid because we can share our troubles with God through prayer. I’m reminded by this verse that God is always with us and reigns over the world, no matter the trial we’re facing.
If you haven’t searched your Bible’s concordance for a topic or verse lately, you should try it. Maybe you’ll find just the words you need to hear.
Prayer
Almighty Father, please put Your peace in my heart. I am worried and anxious, and I can’t help but think about my problems. No matter what problem I have, I know You are bigger and more powerful. I trust Your goodness and Your wisdom, so I place myself in Your hands. In your name I pray, Amen.
